This website has been designed for the 2013-2014 Teacher Leadership Program in Alexandria, Virginia.
Through collaboration with fellow teachers and technology integration specialists, I have designed this webpage as a resource for other teachers who, like me, want to integrate technology into the everyday lives of my students. I teach a self contained autism classroom. I have students in grades K-2 who fall on the autism spectrum or benefit from a structured educational program.
My students have a wide range of abilities. They amaze me everyday. I enjoy going to work and teaching them how to do new things as well as learn from them everyday. Sometimes my students are more technology savvy than me! ha! They can get to level 5 in Temple Run and I can barely make it past level 1. Some of my students are verbal, while some are not. One thing is for sure though, they all LOVE technology. It is the most motivating thing to them.
I want to use technology in a structured, academic way. I want to improve their lives, help them communicate and become more independent, as well as motivate them to want to learn. This project is going to be the culmination of the efforts I have tried in my class. I want to share them with anyone who may find them helpful. I will share how each technology I use benefits my students and how it has impacted their lives in and outside of my classroom.
